Rhinoplasty

Dr. LeRoy uses rhinoplasty, a plastic surgery procedure that reshapes the nose, to add greater symmetry to the face. The rhinoplasty procedure is very versatile, thinning, lengthening, shortening, augmenting, or lifting a nose in accordance with the patient’s desires. Rhinoplasty is frequently used to narrow wide nostrils, to remove a hump on the bridge of the nose, or to raise a droopy nasal tip. Those who seek refinement of thier natural profiles with increased symmetry and balance are good candidates for the rhinoplasty procedure. Some rhinoplasty patients may also benefit from chin implants for further facial balance.

Rhinoplasty – The Surgery

Prior to nose surgery, Dr. John LeRoy will evaluate your medical records. You will be asked about past breaks, breathing difficulties, and current medicines being used. During initial consultations, Dr. LeRoy will discuss the rhinoplasty procedure with you at length. You should be prepared to clearly express your goals in surgery during these meetings.

On the day of surgery you will be put under local anesthesia (or general anesthesia in some cases) and given an intravenous sedative. The technique Dr. LeRoy will use depends upon the shape of your nose and the desired result. Rhinoplasty surgery can often be performed from inside the nose, and in cases where surgery is performed on outer skin, incisions are hidden in natural creases.

The aesthetic effects of a nose surgery will be apparent within a few weeks – but the final result will not be fully visible until the structure of the nose has completely healed. During this healing process patients are discouraged from involvement in strenuous activities which might aggravate swelling.
