Plastic Surgery Glossary:
Acne: A skin condition characterized by irritated, clogged pores that causes whiteheads, blackheads, and pimples. Acne can occur on the face and on other parts of the body like the chest and back.
Collagen: Proteins found within the skin that promotes the suppleness and elasticity of tissue. Collagen production slows as we age causing the skin to become more lax over time.
Complexion: The natural tone, texture, and overall appearance of the skin.
DOT Therapy™: Laser skin resurfacing technology that treats wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne, acne scarring, and more with tiny beams of laser light applied in a dot pattern so as not to disrupt surrounding tissue.
Hyperpigmentation (sun spots): Splotchy, dark patches of skin caused by increased melanin production. Hyperpigmentation is often the result of unprotected sun exposure.
