Also known as the “mini” tummy tuck, the Band Aid Tummy Tuck can eliminate excess, stretched skin along the abdomen that results from rapid weight loss or pregnancy. Similar to Band Aid Liposuction, the Band Aid Tummy Tuck is designed specifically by Dr. John LeRoy for those patients who are a healthy weight and only have a small amount of excess abdominal tissue.

The Procedure

During a Band Aid Tummy Tuck, Dr. LeRoy administers gentle numbing (local anesthesia) to the abdominal area and then carefully removes the exercise- and diet-resistant tissue to improve the patient’s overall body contour. For patients who also want to reduce excess abdominal fat, Dr. LeRoy may recommend using a combination of Band Aid Liposuction  and Band Aid Tummy Tuck to achieve optimal results.

For those patients who have had multiple children, or have larger amounts of unwanted skin and fat, a traditional abdominoplasty (tummy tuck)  may be more appropriate, as the more comprehensive tummy tuck tightens underlying muscles and removes excess skin across the entire abdomen. Additionally, Dr. LeRoy performs mommy makeover surgery to combine the rejuvenating effects of breast augmentation,  liposuction, and tummy tuck surgery.

Frequently Asked Questions about Band Aid Tummy Tucks

A tummy tuck seems like a pretty comprehensive procedure. How can it possibly be minimally invasive?

Yes, a traditional tummy tuck is a significant procedure, which is why I refined the comparable “mini” version for those patients who could benefit from a tummy tuck, but don’t necessarily need the full procedure. I use a different technique with the Band Aid version, only targeting the areas that need the most attention. This technique requires a shorter incision, and can therefore be performed in-office with local anesthesia.

What are the main differences between the Band Aid Tummy Tuck and the traditional tummy tuck?

The incision for the Band Aid Tummy Tuck is significantly smaller than the incision required with the traditional procedure. Instead of excising fat and skin across the entire tummy, I focus solely on those areas that need attention. The most significant difference, though, is the shorter recovery time associated with the Band Aid Tummy Tuck.

Who is a good candidate for Band Aid Tummy Tuck?

Similar to Band Aid Liposuction, a Band Aid Tummy Tuck is reserved for those patients who have small amounts of excess skin and fat in the abdominal region, but are not overweight and do not have enough excess skin and fat to require the traditional abdominoplasty (tummy tuck).

I’ve been considering mommy makeover surgery because, despite being in good shape, my body doesn’t look like it will ever get back to what it was before my pregnancy. I don’t know that I need a lot of work, though.  Are there any “mini” procedures that can meet my specific needs?

Mommy makeover surgery is a great procedure that’s tailored to each patient’s specific needs. A typical mommy makeover may consist of a breast procedure, liposuction, and a tummy tuck. Surgical candidates who are in better physical shape may only need Band Aid Liposuction or a Band Aid Tummy Tuck.  During a consultation, I evaluate each patient and listen to their areas of concern to determine what procedure(s) will best meet their specific needs.
